Are you tight-fisted with your stuff? Are you not sharing the things that God has provided to you? Coveting starts in the mind and affects all areas of our lives. This last commandment is at the core of all the commandments, just as having physical core strength affects all other areas of your body. Coveting prevents us from being grateful and content with what we have.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 tells us to work or we shall not eat. Donna tells us to model work for your children and teach them the value of working. Ephesians 4:28 and 1 John 3:17 remind us to not steal and to work and share what we have. Stealing can also mean not paying back credit card debt or loans, or filing bankruptcy.

Thou shalt not commit adultery. Marriage needs protection and attention! Donna teaches us that in Matthew 5:27-30, if you lust for someone other than your spouse, you are committing adultery in your heart. Talk to your children about sex and train them to be disciplined with their bodies. Donna also refers to Prov 6:32, Mark 7:20-23, and Heb 13:4.

Week Two of Sacrifice

Dear faithful listeners,

How is your sacrifice journey going?

Have you decided to join me in the $40 for 40 days? It’s not too late to join me.

It is the second week of Lent with 7 days behind us and 33 more days to go…I find myself asking on a daily basis, "Do I really need this?" I should have the words tattooed on my hands as an easy reminder. I personally struggle with buying the little things that get thrown in the grocery cart, the Target basket or going to the fast food restaurants that are on every corner. The little things add up to BIG amounts! This past week I found myself wanting to visit the drive-thru at McDonald's to grab my 2 children a cheeseburger after school. I had to stop and ask, "Do my kids really need this?" The answer was clear, NO. I had them wait the 20 minute car ride until we got home and we made a snack at the house. It would have been easier to grab a cheeseburger but sacrifice is not about being "easy." It felt good to deny and sacrifice. I took my $1 bill for the day and put it my broadcast jar and it felt rewarding.

I would like to share with you my 2010 word for the year, a word I desire to live by, “transformation.” I prayed before the New Year for the Lord to bring to my mind a word that He feels I need to focus on. The word transformation strongly came to mind, so strongly I knew it was from Him. Then the verse Romans 12:2 was loud and clear, "do not be conformed of the world but be transformed by the renewing of the mind…" Wow! I believe transformation starts with sacrifice. </p.

Please consider joining me on this exciting journey. Go to your kitchen or closet and find any jar and label it with 2010 HBC BROADCAST LENT JAR. Make the container clear so you can visually see the $1 bills adding up each day. It's a reminder of the sacrifice you are doing to give back to the ministry of Homemakers By Choice. Collect $40 in 40 days and mail it in to the ministry with a note of the ways you sacrificed to give back. Your gift to the ministry will bless the thousands of listeners across the world that faithfully listen and support the ministry.

Sacrificing for Him,
