The songwriter wrote, "I can't live in a world without love." How true that is. Love is something no one can live without...feeling that someone, somewhere, cares for us. Love comes in several flavors, and today we will see the contrast between human and divine love, and how as believers, we can learn to share the love of God with those around us.

When it comes right down to it, what really satisfies people is not a new car, a new home theater system or even a new computer. What gives us fulfillment is being part of something bigger than ourselves. Getting connected in this way is another of the gifts we cannot live without, as explained by Dr. Lutzer.

Most of us are grateful when we receive gifts...and we should be. While many gifts we get are enjoyable, most are not critical to our lives. But, did you know that there are at least four gifts we cannot live without...gifts that forge our character, outlook and self-image? Today we begin a series on those four gifts, as outlined by Dr. Lutzer.

How can Christians impact a culture in which they are no longer different? These are the questions Dr. Lutzer poses, and answers, on today's broadcast.

There are many voices that oppose the message of the gospel, and they are getting louder all the time. Many authors are writing books promising that you can simply think your way to happiness, prosperity and health, and that looking to God for your supply is, at best, old-fashioned. One such book caught the eye of Dr. Lutzer, and on today's program, you will hear its message soundly debunked.

Often we call these times of revival, times when new life is infused into the church and, as a result, into the world at large. It is at these times that believers are motivated to pray like never before. Today, we will spend a final visit in First Thessalonians for a look at one major effect of God's special visitation upon His people.

Today we will hear Paul's admonition to the church at Thessalonica.

"I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that he may abide with you forever, even the Spirit of Truth..." Jesus promised His disciples that, through the Holy Spirit, His presence would remain with them after His departure. The Holy Spirit is our focus today, as we learn about another cardinal element of what Christians believe: that we have a Comforter given to guide and sustain us throughout life.

"God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." It was Jesus who spoke those words, the Son of God who came to reveal the Father to us, and to give His life as atonement for sin. The Lord Jesus Christ is our focus today as we learn about another cardinal element of what Christians believe: the Christ from whose name we derive the word "Christian."

At the core of what a Christian must believe is that there is a God, and that He created all that is. The Bible tells us that God is our heavenly Father, a Father who desires His children to walk in truth and obedience to all He has commanded. Today, Dr. Lutzer is continuing a series on the central teachings all believers must understand, and we invite you to stay with us.

In a recent poll, seventy percent of college students admitted that they cheat. The upcoming generation says they want to see integrity in politicians and national leaders, but they do not place a high value on their personal integrity. D.L. Moody said that "character is what a man is in the dark." Today, we will learn to discern integrity...in others, and in ourselves.

Movies, social drinking and dancing?in the past, Christians avoided all these drawing a sharp line in the sand on what was appropriate behavior for a believer. Those days seem all but gone, which raises the question: what is a valid standard for Christian conduct? And how much should our culture impact what that standard allows? Today, we will seek discernment in the difficult area of what we should and should not do.

In days past the occult was obvious, and Christians stayed away. Nowadays paganism is central to the culture, and we encounter it at every turn. The media is a conduit of false spirituality pointing people away from worshipping our transcendent God and helping them worship gods made in their own image. Our task: to discern the true from the false.

If you watch enough TV you will be convinced that success depends on a youthful physique, flowing clean hair, and perfect teeth. We have come to idolize good looks, and to relegate character to a distant second place. Trouble is, we are not all beautiful people, so what do we do?

Television and movies have come to define the American way of life. Sadly, they also define the lives of many Christians. Our minds are filled with seductive images, and our hearts grow cold to the things of God. If there is any area in which we need real discernment, it is here - deciding what to watch, and when.
